Start using lean methodologies to grow your business, lean courses to help your SME be more profitable and reduce waste helping your organisation grow.
Lean Six Sigma combines two problem-solving methodologies into one powerful, robust and efficient toolset. It’s used by almost all of the world’s most successful organisations to reduce costs, increase quality and improve customer experiences.
The Lean method is entirely focused on eliminating waste, providing maximum value to customers with the lowest possible amount of investment. Six Sigma was developed with a very specific goal: reduce variation and defect rates in business processes through statistical analysis. To do this, Six Sigma uses one of two, 5-step approaches – either the DMAIC or the DMADV method.
This particular programme focuses on the opportunities for business improvement and operational excellence through Lean. We can also help your organisation to understand how you might progress forward after this initiative.
The objective of this overall programme is to get you “up on the ladder” of continuous improvement. We expect all initiatives will yield quantifiable savings and improvements to the business, if structured the right way. Generous funding of 25-100% may also be available and we’re happy to help in the sourcing of such funds.
From our experience, the right balance of top-down and bottom up initiatives is ideal. The leadership of the organisation must understand the opportunities available – and provide the right leadership / endorsements – whereas the people at operational level can see day-to-day issues and challenges that can be addressed in a well-organised structured way.
The following is a broad roadmap of what our typical client programmes look like. Please click here to book a slot if you’d like us to discuss your particular business challenges / opportunities.
We usually start with Lean Intro for Leaders (LEGO) which is typically a half day customised workshop at your premises . The purpose is to ground your leadership team on the basics of Lean and their responsibility to support and engage. Games involving LEGO are used to reinforce the potential for business improvements.
Lean Basics – half day workshop on your premises. The main purpose to give most of your staff an introduction to the basic level of Lean and to encourage an improvement mindset among staff at all levels. Again, games involving LEGO are used to reinforce the potential for business improvements.
Lean Practitioner – typically, 4 days of learning with a mix of on site (2 days) and virtual (2 days), which can include an exam prep day if you choose to opt for the international PeopleCert qualification. The purpose is to build up a cohort of say 25 to 30% of staff with a more detailed understanding of Lean with a view to practical implementation of the tools
Lean Champion – 3 days (2 training days and 1 exam prep) to gain international PeopleCert qualification of Lean Leader. The purpose to give 5-10% of staff the skill set to be the “go to people for Lean”, lead events including Kaizen improvement workshops and 5S events (Pre requisite being that they must have passed the Lean Practitioner exam)

We normally take the above as a template and work with client management to tailor a programme to suit the needs of the business. Also, a “start small” initiative can be configured to “test the water” for improvement initiatives like this, which should help management to proceed forward with confidence.
Funding – please note that there are many funding sources available in the Irish marketplace. This could help a lot with the business case for programmes like this. See our Funding page here.
We often help to configure Improvement Project assignments to cover either a Kaizen event, 5S kick off, or a Value Stream Mapping exercise. This can run for 2 to 5 days, with a possible combination of onsite and virtual support
PeopleCert Lean Practitioner Certificate is for all those who wish to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Lean methodology and Lean terms, principles, tools and practices, as well as obtain the necessary skillset to apply, create, analyse and evaluate using the Lean methodology.
